Christmas is the most magical and expensive time of the year. And with five kids to buy for, we have to pinch every penny to ensure everyone feels that wonder and excitement on Christmas morning.
There are plenty of ways that people save money on Christmas like limiting gifts, making their gifts or decor, and focusing on traditions that keep them busy at home, for example, baking cookies and other treats.
But saving money on Christmas gifts is the most effective way to impact how much you save this December. Here is how my family does it.
Rebate Sites
My biggest secret to saving money is using rebate sites. I buy my homeschool curriculum using rebate sites because the cashback racks up fast since they are expensive. And the same for Christmas.
How Do Rebate Sites Work?
It’s simple. Retailers pay the rebate site to refer you to their website. Then, the rebate site gives you a percentage of whatever you spend back to you to encourage you to continue to shop through the rebate site.
And if you use a credit card that gives you cashback on those purchases, you can double dip the rewards!
What are my Favorite Rebate Sites?
Dollar Dig
I love Dollar Dig. Mainly because they give a great deal on some of my favorite homeschool publishers like Evan-Moor Educational Publishers and Carson-Dellosa.
But right now, Dollar Dig has coupons for some of my favorite brands like Nautica, Nadine West, and Bloomchic.
Rebate Fanatic
My oldest kid loves dinosaurs, and he is getting to the age where regular dinosaur toys are not the thing anymore. He wants collector’s items. And the best place to find them is eBay.
Rebate Fanatic works with eBay to give a competitive cashback rate on purchases to bring them back down to being affordable to my family.
Rakuten
Rakuten is a popular rebate site. It is basically my backup, and I don’t use it much. I can almost always find what I need using the above sites.
